My company is giving me a new”ish” laptop. Its an Alienware Sentia with specs following:

  • Intel Pentium M - 1.7GHz
  • 2GB Ram
  • 80 GB HD
  • DVD +&- RW
  • LAN, Wireless 802.11A&G

I’m going to wipe it out and put Microsoft Vista Ultimate on it. I’m currently downloading the OS. Its taking a while of course. For those that don’t know, Microsoft Vista comes on a DVD. Well the DVD is 2GB. That takes a long while to download. It looks like its going to be somewhere in the time frame of 6hrs depending on the Internet’s speed.

In the mean time I want to start to download the drivers from Alienware. Unfortunately the previous IT Dept didn’t write down the account numbers for the laptops. So I can’t log into the website to download the drivers.

Lets hope that Vista has all the needed drivers.
